Background and Training
I was born and raised in Berkshire and Surrey in the UK before moving to London where I studied medicine at St Thomas' Hospital in London. I met my wife, Jo, who is also English, on a beach in Fiji whilst traveling to the Solomon Islands to study blood sugar levels in pregnant women taking chloroquine.
I was lucky enough to train in some excellent units in London including Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals, Chelsea and Westminster and Queen Charlotte's before starting my specialist training on the south coast of England.
My wife and I had a wonderful time living in Brighton on the south coast whilst I worked there and in some of the neighbouring towns. When I completed my O&G training I undertook a fellowship in laparoscopic (key hole) surgery and studied medical education for a year. My first daughter, Lily, was born during those years.
After completing all of my additional training we moved to Perth, WA with the intention of staying for a year and then returning to life in the UK, but I was offered an excellent position which allowed me to combine my interests in general O&G and education. For five years I was the Director of Postgraduate Medical Education and worked as a specialist at King Edward Memorial Hospital.
During that time I developed training programs and became involved in the national training of doctors in obstetrics and gynaecology. I coordinated national exams for doctors training in the specialty whilst providing services in O&G to women in Western Australia. My second daughter, Rose was born at King Edward, the first Aussie in the family!
The lifestyle and opportunities of Victoria prompted a move to The Peninsula in 2009 where we love the beach life, access to the food and wine of the Peninsula and the vibrancy of the city. I now provide a broad range of O&G services whilst maintaining my passion training the doctors of the future. In 2017 I was appointed as Director of Women's Health at Peninsula Health.
When I get time, I enjoy music production and playing my Martin acoustic guitar and I love photography, design, and creating things in the workshop.
